story is the superpower
about
Whether it’s a half-marathon, sunrise at the Taj Mahal, or three flying lessons in an unbelievably small Cessna plane, TAI BIRAN is a writer-director sparked by happy adventures.
A half-Congolese, half-Haitian, first gen American with a Russian name—Tai writes about the beauty of contradictions. The flavors of childhood pop in her stories, often as dysfunctional families, maverick protagonists and impossible loves. She previously worked for a national justice org to disrupt the cycles of poverty and incarceration in LA. She is a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, Columbia, NYU and the Esper Studio acting program.
Tai was a HUMANITAS Finalist for her feature script DON’T CRY BEAU and CineStory TV Finalist for her pilot THE AFRICAN FORMERLY KNOWN AS PRINCE.
Welcome to this story universe: high concept, character-driven and emotionally profound.
